Project research

Project research in practice: the GASCA example.

GASCA studied data protection awareness in hospitality businesses in Türkiye and Germany. Survey design, fieldwork and the research report were activities within a wider project.

GASCA ran in 2022–2024 and its research report was published in May 2024. The GASCA research was not conducted with Nuvopoll. The workflow below shows how similar work could be supported by the platform today.

Research informed the next project activity.

The project defined a research topic, collected institutional responses and team interviews, and examined awareness and implementation difficulties. Findings informed vocational training content.

Nuvopoll’s founder prepared the accepted GASCA application and was among the research report’s co-authors. The example reflects direct experience of connecting research, fieldwork and the subsequent training activity.

Keep the actual sample visible.

The final report analysed 30 institutional responses: 22 from Türkiye and eight from Germany. The application had initially envisaged four collection instruments; implementation concentrated on the general institutional survey and team interviews.

This sample should not be described as representing the hospitality sectors of both countries. Read the report to understand the evidence and the limitations of the comparisons.

Research was a planned project activity.

Accepted application allocationPlanned amount
Total project budget€60,000
Four research activities: survey design, the two country fieldwork activities and reporting€22,000

These figures are planned activity allocations from the accepted application. They are not actual expenditure, automatic grant reimbursement or a Nuvopoll licence price.

How a similar workflow could be supported today.

  • Design: prepare common questions and interview fields; researchers review wording and method.
  • Language versions: prepare Turkish and German, review locally and pilot both.
  • Fieldwork: assign regions and targets, review sessions and reconcile work records with actual costs.
  • Analysis: define and validate scoring rules, inspect groups and export labelled data.
  • Reporting: share appropriate aggregate findings with partners and explain their meaning.

Researcher work, interviewing, travel and report writing remain distinct project costs. Whether software may be purchased depends on the relevant grant conditions.
