This is a needs survey, not a skill test or validated scale. It is a downloadable text example; it is not installed automatically in your Nuvopoll account.

A participant introduction to adapt.
We are collecting views about spreadsheet use to understand training needs and participation conditions. Your responses will help us plan the content and delivery. Participation is voluntary.
Please do not include names or contact details in open answers.
Add your organisation, data-use purpose, recipients, retention and contact information. This short introduction does not replace a complete study-specific participant notice.
1. Which group best describes you in this survey?
Response format: Single choice
Options: Employed / Self-employed / Student / Not currently working / Another group / Prefer not to say
Researcher note: Compare needs between groups only if that comparison will affect the decision. For internal research, use broad role groups instead.
2. On how many days in the last 30 days did you organise data or perform calculations in a spreadsheet?
Response format: Single choice
Options: None / 1–3 days / 4–7 days / 8–15 days / 16 or more days / Cannot remember
Researcher note: Understand recent use. People who use spreadsheets often and those who are beginning may need different support.
3. How confident are you that you could filter spreadsheet data by a chosen criterion without help?
Response format: Single choice
Options: 1: Not at all confident / 2: Not very confident / 3: Somewhat confident / 4: Very confident / 5: Completely confident / I am not familiar with this task
Researcher note: This is a self-assessment of one task, not a skill test. Keep “not familiar” outside the numeric scale.
4. Which spreadsheet tasks did you find difficult in the last 30 days?
Response format: Multiple choice
Options: Organising data / Formulas or calculations / Filtering / Creating charts / Sharing a file / Another task / None / I did not use spreadsheets in this period
Researcher note: “No difficulty” and “did not use” have different meanings. Explain that they should not be selected with task difficulties and review conflicting selections.
5. What is the most important topic you would want to learn in training on this subject?
Response format: Single choice
Options: Organising data / Formulas or calculations / Filtering / Creating charts / Sharing a file / Another topic / I do not currently want training on this subject / Not decided
Researcher note: Read the preference alongside experienced difficulties. A preference and a need are not identical measures.
6. In the last six months, was there training on this subject that you wanted to attend but could not?
Response format: Single choice
Options: Yes / No / Cannot remember
Researcher note: Identify an actual participation barrier. “No” does not mean the person has no training need.
7. Think of the most recent training you could not attend. What was the main reason?
Response format: Single choice; show only if Q6 = Yes
Options: Session time / Cost / Transport / Language / Internet or device access / Work or caring responsibilities / Another reason / Prefer not to say
Researcher note: This concerns a past experience. Other Q6 responses skip directly to Q8.
8. If you considered this training, which format would suit you best?
Response format: Single choice
Options: In person / Live online / Online material I can use in my own time / A mixture of in-person and online sessions / No preference / Not decided
Researcher note: A delivery preference does not prove that one format produces better learning.
9. At which times could you attend a live training session?
Response format: Multiple choice
Options: Weekday morning / Weekday afternoon / Weekday evening / Weekend morning / Weekend afternoon or evening / I cannot currently make time for a live session / Do not yet know
Researcher note: Replace broad periods with concrete times if needed. Do not count “cannot” or “do not know” as available time slots.
10. Which conditions could make it difficult for you to attend the planned training?
Response format: Multiple choice
Options: Session time / Cost / Transport / Language / Internet or device access / Work or caring responsibilities / Missing accessibility arrangements / Another condition / I do not currently expect a barrier / Do not yet know
Researcher note: This concerns possible future barriers, unlike Q7’s past experience.
11. Apart from training, which support would most help you with spreadsheet tasks?
Response format: Single choice
Options: A short practical guide / A ready-to-use example file / A person I can ask for help / Access to suitable software or a device / Time set aside to practise / Other support / I do not currently need additional support / Do not yet know
Researcher note: The response may suggest equipment, workflow or practical support rather than a course.
12. Would you like to describe a task you want to make easier, or suggest something not covered here?
Response format: Optional open text
Options: Please do not include names, contact details or information identifying other people.
Researcher note: Read responses in context. Repeated words alone are not a sufficient basis for a recommendation.
Set up and inspect the design.
Use Q6 to show Q7 only to people who missed a training opportunity. Keep “no difficulty” and “did not use” separate in Q4, and explain mutually inconsistent multiple-choice selections. Test the paths on a phone.
Read recent experience, preferred content and practical barriers together. A confidence score is self-reported, while a future format choice is a preference. Neither proves a tested skill or an effective training method.
